Worthing RUNFEST 28th April 2024

SEA YOU on the 28th April 2024 at our brand new AFTER-PARTY festival!

The Worthing Runfest consists of three brilliant events, Worthing Runfest 10K , Worthing Half Marathon, and the Guild Care Family Run all taking place on the 28th April 2024.

Each race will take place on fully closed roads that are as flat as a pancake, making them the perfect place to go for a new PB. The course starts and finishes on the seafront next to the famous Worthing Pier and in 2024 we will be having a fun after-party in Steyne Gardens.. Check out the 2023 Worthing 10k course or Worthing half course.

Why not get the family active by joining in our ‘Guild Care’ Family Mile!

Both the Worthing 10km and Worthing Half Marathon courses will be accurately measured to IAAF standards and the event will be fully licensed by ‘Run Britain‘. This event has been run since 2015.

Each finisher will receive the warm welcome that the RUNFEST brand is known for as well as one of our amazing male or female cut tech tees, a bespoke medal (see last years below) and an accurate chip timed finish result.

All of our Worthing Runfest races are beginner friendly and professionally organised, follow the links on this page to find out more about each of the races and pick the distance right for you!

About Worthing

Consistently one of the sunniest places in the UK, in 2019 Worthing was voted the 5th happiest place to live in the South East – no surprise when you glimpse the glistening sea and rolling hills of the South Downs and discover more about Worthing’s vibrant cultural and foodie scene.

8 facts about Worthing...

  1. The name “Worthing” derives from the old English name “Worth” which meant “valiant one or one that is noble” and “ingas” which means “people of” and is reduced to “ing” in modern language. So, there you have it – Worthing folk are valiant and noble! Worthing’s Latin motto ‘Ex terra copiam e mari salutem’ translates as ‘from the land plenty and from the sea health’.
  2. The area around Worthing has been populated for at least 6,000 years and contains Britain's greatest concentration of Stone Age flint mines, which are some of the earliest mines in Europe. The Iron Age hill fort of Cissbury Ring is one of Britain's largest.
  3. For many centuries Worthing was a small mackerel fishing hamlet until in the late 18th century when it developed into an elegant Georgian seaside resort.
  4. Worthing is officially the sunniest place in the United Kingdom with 1903 hours of sunshine per year. That's why they call it Sunny Worthing!
  5. Oscar Wilde holidayed in the town in 1893 and 1894, writing the "Importance of Being Earnest" during his second visit.
  6. Worthing Pier was designed by Sir Robert Rawlinson and was opened on April 12, 1862. The Pier has survived several disasters. In 1913 strong gales caused the decking between the pier and shore to be washed away. In 1933 a fire destroyed the South Pavilion. In 1940, during World War II, a hole was blown in the pier’s decking to stop it being used as a landing point for an enemy attack. After taking second or third place for the past four years, Worthing Pier has been voted "Pier of the year 2019" by the members of the National Piers Society.
  7. Several world records have been set in Worthing including the heaviest fig grown (295g), the longest football marathon and the most consecutive rounds of kickboxing.
  8. Worthing has schooled a number of celebrities including Simon Mayo (radio presenter), Dame Anita Roddick (founder of the Body Shop) and Billy Idol (musician). The band Royal Blood are from Worthing.
