ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION – SUNDAY 6th September 2026

Dear Littlehampton Community,
We are writing to let you know that the Littlehampton 10k is returning this year on the 6th of September 2026. The much-loved race is once again going to bring the community together to celebrate Littlehampton and Chestnut Tree House. Using the roads of Littlehampton for the race will cause some changes to the usual traffic routes for a limited time period on Sunday 6th September. In planning this event, every effort is made to minimise the disruption caused due to road closures. The route has been carefully considered based on the impact in the town as well as that of the safety of all participants. A list of all roads affected is included below for your reference. We are working closely with Arun District Council as well as all emergency services and transport links to minimise disruptions.
Roads will begin to close at 06:00 to allow the set-up for the Littlehampton 10k to start safely. From 08:00 a wider range of roads will close ahead of the race starting at 09:00. Roads will begin to re-open from 11:00, once all runners have passed by and when it is safe and feasible to do so. Most roads will have re-opened by 11:30 and all roads will have re-opened by 12:00. We are aiming to open roads before the final times. Advanced warning signs will also be installed around the race route two weeks prior to the event date, indicating when the roads will be closed. For ease, a map has also been included with this letter and is also on our website.
During the event there will be some temporary traffic management measures in place to maintain access where possible in key areas such as the roundabout at St Catherine’s Road and Fitzalan Road as well as residents on Cove Road and Chanctonbury Road, however we do expect these areas to busier than normal. Please do allow extra time for your journey and, where possible, avoid driving in the area during the closure period. If you do need to drive on Sunday 6th September, please consider parking on an alternative street away from the race route on the evening of the Saturday 5 September to enable you to carry out your journey.

Additional Resident Access information:
Granville Road (between Beach Road & Ftizalan Road)
Granville Road (Between Irvine Road & Selbourne Road)
Selbourne Road (between Beach Road & Granville Road junction with Selbourne Road)
Fitzalan Road (between Irvine Road & Maltravers Road)
During the road closures you will be able exit North using Fitzalan Road to travel away from the road closures. Please be aware that there will be traffic management stewards in place, and they may instruct you to wait until it is safe to do so. This access is exit only, unfortunately we will not be able to facilitate entry for vehicle.
Cove Road and Harsfold Close
During the road closures you will be able to exit the road closure area by using Hawley Road. Residents on Harsfold Close will be able to exit and use the vehicle access lane that is separate to the race route. Residents on Cove Road, will use the same access lane but will be instructed by a traffic steward on when to cross due to having to cross the race route. This access is exit only, unfortunately we will not be able to facilitate entry for vehicles.
Chanctonbury Road and Overstrand Avenue
During the road closures you will be able to exit the road closure area by using Seafield Road. Residents on Overstrand Avenue will be able to exit and use the vehicle access lane that is separate to the race route. Residents on Chanctonbury Road, w ill use the same access lane but will be instructed by a traffic steward on when to cross due to having to cross the race route. This access is exit only, unfortunately we will not be able to facilitate entry for vehicles.
